RENO, NEVADA — Leadership from Machinists Union Local Lodge 845 recently traveled to Reno for an important station visit with Lodge 845 members working in Southwest Airlines Customer Service. The visit was part of an ongoing commitment by the Executive Board to stay connected with frontline members, address local labor concerns, and strengthen union solidarity across stations.
Leading the visit was Local Lodge 845 President Daria Kemp, joined by Vice President Tina Swarner and Recording Secretary Sue Bonney. The E-Board’s presence in Reno underscored the importance of direct engagement with members, especially at a time when labor and staffing concerns remain top of mind throughout the airline industry.
Upon arrival, the Lodge 845 team was welcomed by District 142 General Chair Lollie Beecher and Reno Senior Steward Gene Quaranta, who helped facilitate the station walkthrough and meetings with both union members and local management.
Throughout the visit, the union leadership team held candid discussions with Southwest Airlines Customer Service Agents and local union reps to gain firsthand insight into current challenges, including staffing levels, shift coverage, scheduling issues, and workplace morale.
