Local Lodge 845 Joins Forces to Raise $35,000 for Guide Dogs of America at Annual Charity Banquet
LAS VEGAS — The 43rd Annual Guide Dogs of America Charity Banquet, held this past weekend at the Paris Hotel & Casino, was a resounding success, raising over $35,000 to support the organization’s mission of providing guide dogs to individuals with vision impairments. The evening’s festivities marked the conclusion of a weekend filled with fun activities, from golf tournaments to skeet shooting, which brought together members from across the country, including a strong presence from IAM Local Lodge 845.
The highlight of the evening was the inspiring keynote address delivered by actress and comedian Rosie O’Donnell. O’Donnell, a passionate advocate for the visually impaired, spoke movingly about the life-changing impact of guide dogs. Her heartfelt message resonated with the crowd, many of whom had spent the weekend participating in fundraising events in support of the cause. “This is about giving people independence and hope,” O’Donnell said, before leading a standing ovation for the donors and volunteers who made the event possible.
In addition to O’Donnell’s speech, IAM International President Bryan Bryant took to the stage to emphasize the importance of solidarity within the labor movement and the power of community in making a difference. “Local Lodge 845 is proud to stand with Guide Dogs of America, and together, we’ve shown what we can accomplish when we come together for a great cause,” said Bryant. With a full night of camaraderie, laughter, and generosity, the members of Local Lodge 845 were not only able to support an incredible cause but also enjoy a weekend of team-building activities, making it an event to remember.
